Carnegie Mellon University
Since 2025, I’ve taught for Carnegie Mellon University School of Computer Science’s Human-Computer Interaction Institute. My teaching focuses on interaction design and research, with a special focus on inclusive and accessible design.
News
[21 July 2026] My capstone team working for the ARM Institute presented their final work for the company in front of an audience from ARM Institute, their peers, and members of Human-Computer Interaction Institute. They delivered a prototype that extends roboticscareer.org to grow alongside job seekers.
[15 July 2026] My capstone team working with Goodwill presented their final, pilot-tested product in front of an audience from Goodwill, their peers, and members of Human-Computer Interaction Institute. They delivered a product that sits on-top of Goodwill’s POS system and allows their in-store processors to process goods 2x faster using a combination of AI voice technology and tablets.
[16 April 2026] Awarded the GAITAR fellowship to explore AI’s place in design learning.
Current Research
Accessibility in the age of vibe coding, with a focus on how AI-assisted workflows produce inaccessible interfaces by default, what designers need to recognize and evaluate in generated code, and how curricula should adapt.
Working With Me
Prospective Students
Students interested in the HCII Ph.D. program should apply during the next cycle in autumn. The HCII admits students at the department level. Students are then matched with faculty advisors in their first weeks on campus. I only work with our Master's program at the HCII and don’t advise PhDs.
Student interested in the Masters in Human-Computer Interaction (MHCI) should direct their questions to the program director.
CMU Students
If you are a CMU student interested in working on one of my active research projects, please check the HCII Independent Study list for open positions and the desired skills. I post any available positions at the start of each semester.
